We're delighted to begin work on the next girls' dormitory at Nyang'oro Secondary School with the generous support of the Michael Matthews Foundation and Infinity Foundation.
Between 15 and 30 community members have worked voluntarily on the site each day. We're using the more environmentally-friendly Interlocking Soil Stabilised blocks (ISSBs) for this hostel.
ISSBs will:
- Save 50% of wall construction costs
- Reduce 50% of cement consumption
- Reduce the building’s total carbon emissions by 40%
Local men and women have been trained to make the bricks.
