Job Description: Pioneering digital education through Edtech Communities of Practice
Position Title: Digital Fellow Location: Tanzania (Various Regions)
Overview:
The Digital Fellow will oversee Lyra’s "Edtech Communities of Practice" Model. This role focuses on integrating ICT into secondary education in Tanzania; by establishing Edtech committees in schools, and regional Communities of Practice. The Digital Fellow will ensure the success and sustainability of the COP model, as it expands its footprint in Iringa, and scales to additional regions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Management:
○ Create and oversee the implementation of the Communities of Practice (COP) Model across selected regions.
○ Assess and map the current state of technology infrastructure in selected schools and regions of scale.
○ Organise regional Edtech Forums and an annual Conference for Communities of Practice (COPs), serving as platforms for Lyra to amplify rural voices in education and strengthen its role as an ecosystem enabler.
○ Work closely with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of ICT, PO-RALG, and other government bodies to align the initiative with national educational goals.
○ Represent the organisation in national and international forums, promoting the vision and goals of the COP model.
2. Capacity Building:
○ Stay abreast of the latest trends and innovations in digital technology, and collaborate with content creators to ensure access to quality educational resources.
○ Organise monthly virtual learning labs with expert sessions to enhance teachers' digital skills.
○ Provide ongoing support and professional development for ICT teachers and school focal points.
○ Develop and maintain a digital resource repository in collaboration with educational experts and the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE).
3. Community Engagement:
○ Support school committees to organise Edtech Days, ICT showcases, and other community events to mainstream Edtech.
○ Support school committees to prioritise the allocation of sustainable resources, including budgets for maintenance, training, and incentives.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation:
○ Collect and analyse data on key performance indicators, such as technology utilisation, educator training, and student outcomes.
○ Prepare regular reports and share insights with stakeholders to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Education, Information Technology, Development Studies, or a related field.
● Proven experience in program management, particularly in the education or technology sector.
● Strong understanding of ICT integration in education and familiarity with Tanzanian educational policies.
● Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, educators, community members, and private sector partners.
● Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for training and communication. ● Fluency in English and Swahili.
Note: This position requires frequent travel to various regions in Tanzania.
