Lyra in Africa UK is recruiting a part time Global Programs and Compliance Manager. This is a freelance position and the role is based remotely.

Summary of Role: The Global Programs and Compliance manager position is a key role within Lyra in Africa that works seamlessly across all three Lyra in Africa entities: Lyra UK/ Lyra Finland and Lyra Tanzania.  This role works very closely with the Lyra in Africa CEO and supports the effective and smooth running of the charity. The role requires an experienced and effective manager, with the ability to lead multiple initiatives across operations and programming. The overarching purpose of this position is to work with the Chief Executive Officer and senior management team, in implementing smooth and efficient structures, systems and processes to ensure all global operations are highly effective, and all programs are compliant. 

Key responsibilities 

  • Support the overall operations of Lyra in Africa to ensure that it is at optimal efficiency 

  • Lead the process to embed appropriate planning and reporting mechanisms and structures across the portfolio, holding responsibility to ensure Lyra in Africa meets all donor compliance and reporting requirements 

  • Support all logistics for all three Lyra Boards to ensure they run smoothly and meet all statutory requirements 

  • Support the program implementation team in Lyra Tanzania to implement the portfolio according to donor guidelines and best practice, continually building the capacity of the team 

  • Ensure that Lyra’s Safeguarding policy is embedded across operations and programs 

  • Support the SMT to ensure the implementation of effective performance management and remuneration structures for all Lyra staff and consultants 

  • Support the implementation of the Lyra MEL policy, embedding MEL across the portfolio and enhancing Lyra’s evidence base 

  • Support Lyra Tanzania in its financial planning and management of the annual Lyra budget 

  • Work jointly with the Chief Executive Officer to meet annual fundraising targets, and building new strategic partnerships 

  • Support the Chief Executive Officer to maintain existing strong relationships with donor partners including corporates 

  • Contribute to marketing and communications to ensure consistent messaging across Lyra social media channels and relevance to the Lyra cause 

  • Act as a member of Lyra in Africa’s SMT contribute to the development of the organisation’s strategy for achieving its charitable objectives, and helping to foster the unique spirit and ethos of Lyra in Africa 

  • To work on strategic and tactical issues facing the charity, alongside the CEO and Senior Team in Tanzania

  • Has effective working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as communications tools such as Canva 

Location and hours of work 

The role is part time, totalling 22 hours per week. All global Lyra in Africa staff work remotely, therefore this role will be expected to work remotely, linking up virtually with the team as and when required. This role may require travel to global meetings as well as to the project locations.
